Goals for the Week

Happy Monday!  First, a summary of last week's goals - what I did, and what I did not...and after that, goals for this week.  We had a fair amount of rain this week...and lots of rainbows!

Meals
Make a dinner menu to use items on hand in a way that is tasty.

Try new recipe for homemade sandwich pockets.  I was all excited about this a week ago, but now, I think this ship has sailed.  I'm sure it'll come back around another time, though!

Make and can sweet zucchini relish, if I have enough zucchini.  I did a half-recipe, yielding 7 half-pints and a little extra that we put in the fridge and we are using now.  This is actually how much I wanted to make, so yay!

Family
Have a date night (at home after the kidlet is in bed) with Husband.  Snacks and a movie - woot!

Develop a school routine for the week, based on this year's schedule. This is going well, I think.  We have Monday afternoons available for play, piano on Tuesdays, swimming on Wednesdays, which leaves me Thursdays and Fridays for errands and weekend prep.  We moved a couple of Daughter's classes to different days to make her days more evenly loaded, and it seems to be going well so far.

Do an art project or other fun activity with Daughter.  We started a 'book club', taking turns reading each other a chapter of a book she loves.  We hope to continue this (with different books) for the next few years.

Help choose music for Daughter's piano recital.  We have three songs chosen and we are looking at dates!

Homestead
Do more mowing as weather permits.  If it's too wet to mow, trim low branches on trees.  It has been raining fairly regularly, but I've trimmed a few more branches.

Shear Angora rabbits.  Mrs. Hughes is shorn, but Mrs. Patmore is actually not quite ready.  Perhaps she will be ready in the coming week.
Mrs. Patmore is almost ready for shearing.  Cute, yes?

Mrs. Hughes was shorn a couple days ago - her 'look' is proof that I'm no groomer!

Finish cleaning up area behind the barn.  With the rain, this remains an ongoing project.

Health
Exercise three times.  (It is a start!)

Drink two quarts of water daily, at least five days.

Get at least seven hours sleep each night.

Household
Wash five windows.  Oh.  Um....er...I kinda completely forgot about this.

Work on de-greasing new-to-us gas grill.  This took a lot more work than I expected, but we are done with the cooking parts - the burners, lid, grates, etc.  All that is left now is the storage cabinet area beneath the grill.

Dust ceiling fans.  Eep.  See 'Wash five windows.'

Get 1-2 items for Daughter's birthday party, using regular grocery budget.  I picked up four nonperishable items that will be part of either a snack mix/trail mix or another food item.

Spirit
Write in prayer journal.  I prayed a lot this week, but didn't write prayers down.

Listen to a sermon podcast.  I planned to do this, but spent the time reading one of Lauraine Snelling's newer titles instead...so at least it was God-focused.  :)

Finish Raising Great Kids by Henry Cloud.  I'm still reading, but made some progress this week!

And now...for this week's goals:

Meals
Make a dinner menu to use items on hand in a way that is tasty.  This would include Swiss chard, spinach, green beans and zucchini, along with side dishes we made, but did not finish, over the weekend.

Make blueberry-zucchini bread or muffins,  for snacks and breakfasts.  Basically, I just plan to shred some zucchini into my blueberry muffin recipe and cut back on the liquids to compensate.

Smoothies for breakfast, at least three times.  I need the freezer space!

Family
Write love note for Husband.

Go on a 'just us' mom-daughter outing.

Work on planning for upcoming family vacation.

Homestead
Do more mowing as weather permits.  If it's too wet to mow, trim low branches on trees.

Shear Angora rabbit.

Finish cleaning up area behind the barn.

Move plants to the terraces.
We built these terraces ourselves, with stones we had on hand.
The irises are from some we divided, and there are some other plants
we plan to divide and move to the empty terraces.

Health
Exercise three times.

Drink two quarts of water daily, at least five days.

Get at least seven hours sleep each night.

Household
Wash five windows.

Finish up cleaning/de-greasing our new-to-us gas grill.

Dust ceiling fans.

Make 'save the date' cards/invites for Daughter's birthday party.

Spirit
Write in prayer journal.

Finish Raising Great Kids by Henry Cloud.

What are you up to this week?

  1. The upstairs bathrooms get cleaned this week. They get little use so they can go two weeks.
Spend a day with my older daughter and children here. Yippee!!
Cook for the homeless shelter on Wednesday.
Meet a friend for a free lunchtime concert at the library.
Adjust my menus a bit for things that need to be used.
Wipe down mildew in the screen porch before it gets out of hand and needs the pressure washer.
Shop three grocery stores for some great sales.
Pick up downed limbs on the yard.
Mow the grass-hubby. His beloved Snapper mower is not used by anyone but him. :)
Cut back some of the potted plants on my deck as they are too leggy and overgrown.
Go to the zoo with our oldest daughter and family on Saturday. We will have to work to get things done so that we have the time to spare.
Make an apple pie on Saturday to take to a friends house for dessert on Saturday night. I have bags of frozen apple pie filling from last fall that needs to get used up before new apples come in this fall.

Your terraced rock garden is going to look great with those irises blooming next spring!
